The Prime Minister announced that there will be a General Election on the 4th July.
Ever since I was elected as your MP in Chingford and Woodford Green, I have represented and worked with so many local people, businesses, and community groups to get action on our shared priorities. And together we’ve made real progress.
Right now, I’m taking action in the local community to save the South Chingford Community Library and working to bring back the 505 Bus to Waltham Abbey. I’ve called for the Labour Mayor of London and Transport for London to act swiftly to resolve the severe delays and overcrowding on the Central Line.
The Labour council closed the Broadmead Road Bridge almost a year ago, and it has remained shut. I’ve campaigned nonstop to get the council to have a full independent survey of the bridge, so we can understand what works need to take place, how long and how much that would cost. As a result, finally in January this year, six months after the bridge was shut, the council finally agreed to undertake a full independent structural survey. We are still waiting to hear what the results of that survey are.
Government money is now ensuring Highams Park School is being completely rebuilt. I’ve secured millions to level up Chingford Mount and Highams Park Town centre’s, and our campaign with local people in Woodford has paid off by securing a new Post Office outlet which opened in South Woodford.
After 27 years of campaigning along with the local community, we’ve secured over £350 MILLION for the complete rebuild of Whipps Cross hospital. When Whipps was under threat of closure during a Labour Government in 2007, I led the charge and organised a petition signed by 21000 people to keep it open.
Now the Conservatives government have approved our plan and are ready to put spades in the ground to get our hospital built. Yet this is at risk, Labour has made it clear they won’t commit to this rebuild which is ready to start.
We cannot afford a Labour MP who’ll stand with Sadiq Khan and our Labour councils. We know Sadiq Khan ignores our priorities, most importantly rising crime, and motorist taxes. We know our councils impose tower blocks on our green spaces. Just think what they will do without anyone standing up to them.
If you want an MP who will always speak up for your interests, not Sadiq Khan’s, not the Labour councils - nor Westminster’s, then I’m asking for your support.
Let’s see our plan through and build a brighter future for local families. I hope you will consider putting your trust in me again and vote for me on Thursday 4 July.
