Local singing group performs at Parliament

6th July 2017

Iain Duncan Smith invited and arranged for a small local singing group from Woodford take to the stage in the atrium of Portcullis House in Parliament yesterday evening, where they gave a fantastic performance to MPs and staff.

Melanie Field, the group’s leader, is a resident of Woodford Green and said:
"We are a vocal harmony group of who have been singing together for 15 years. We will be entertaining the audience with songs from stage, screen and more."

The event was enjoyed immensely by colleagues and staff who stopped by to listen throughout the course of the evening.

Ms Field’s daughter, Isabella Field was also in attendance. This was Isabella’s second trip to Parliament this year, having already visited earlier this year to collect the award for ‘Best Young Fundraiser’ from the Institute of Fundraising for her work fundraising for local children’s hospice, Haven House.

The group often use their performances as a way to raise money for Haven House and it was a real pleasure to be able to invite them here and see them showcasing their talents in front of a crowd of MPs.

Summary

This paper sets out proposals to revise the immigration system and additionally in the annexe it makes the point that more information is required to fully understand the nature of where the costs fall and benefits exist. The information on much, if not all, of this is held by the government.

The central objective should be to ensure control over the movement of people. Using a combination of work permits and a cap we would look to control access to work and rights to settlement. Free movement for EU citizens for other purposes should be preserved.
