A 12-year-old student who helped raise more than £111,000 for Haven House Children’s Hospice after losing her sister to cancer has been praised by the Prime Minister.
On Tuesday 28 November, Isabella Field from Woodford Green received the Points of Light Award, which recognises outstanding volunteers who are making a change in their community and inspiring others.
Each day, someone, somewhere in the country is selected to receive the award to celebrate their remarkable achievements.
Isabella was presented with the award from Tracey Crouch, Minister for Sport and Civil Society, at a reception attended by Haven House Patron Iain Duncan Smith MP marking Giving Tuesday, the annual global day of giving.
In a personal letter to Isabella, Prime Minister Theresa May said: “By raising over £110,000 in support of ‘Haven House Children’s Hospice’ in memory of your sister Molly, you have given vital support to hundreds of children with life-limiting conditions and made a real difference in the care they receive. You should feel enormously proud of everything you have achieved, especially at such a young age, and for inspiring thousands of people through your remarkable fundraising."
Haven House Patron Iain Duncan Smith MP said: “I am absolutely delighted that Isabella Field has received the Points of Light Award in recognition of her fundraising.
“She is a wonderful role model for young people in our local area and through Isabella’s fundraising we have been able to support other families with life-limited children.”
Earlier this summer, Isabella was among 20 young people to be recognised with a Diana Award, in memory of Diana, Princess of Wales.
In November 2016, Isabella was named ‘Best Young Fundraiser of the Year’ at the Institute of Fundraising Awards.
In 2015, Isabella received the Young Citizen Award by Rotary in Great Britain and Ireland Award, a year after winning the prize for the London Borough of Redbridge.
